ABOUT US

We are a group of international volunteers in Katowice participating in the European Voluntary Service program. We come from Georgia, Italy, Spain and Turkey.

Why Silesia?

A REGION WITH A RICH HISTORY

Silesia has a rich history and even richer traditions, and we were all amazed discovering it: from the coal mines to the forests and its unique language, Silesia offers a variety of attractions and beautiful places to visit.

The region spreads out from Katowice’s suburbs and sprawls into a matrix of towns and cities that were once historically connected through heavy industry and political autonomy. This shared history helped forge a strong regional identity and indeed Silesia has its own dialect (Silesian) which is a mix of Polish, German and Czech.

WEEKLY EVENTS

MONDAY

Polish cafe

Start the week with deeper knowledge of Polish language and culture by joining this event. Foreign people from all around the world meet local people to make learning Polish language a little bit easier but sure for fun.

TUESDAY

Free entry at the Silesian Museum

Every Tuesday the entrance to the Silesian Museum is free. So this is a perfect chance to discover the region's unique history and culture. There is so much to see there, so we recommend you to plan at least a 2-hour visit.

WEDNESDAY

Multilanguage evenings

Every Wednesday, local and foreign people gather together to practice languages while enjoying a beer. The only thing to do is to choose a the table with the language you want to learn or teach and start an informal conversation.

THURSDAY

On Fridays, the EVS volunteers from Bona Fides organize an English movie club the aim of which is to make new friends, enjoy new movies and discuss different topics. If you are interested, check out the weekly Facebook event.
