Why Pszczyna?

Pszczyna, is undoubtedly worth visiting just for his castle. But the streets and surroundings of this town hide a lot of history and secrets. With a history dating back nearly 700 years, Pszczyna has a lot of historic buildings that contribute to the town’s rich past.

What to visit?

Skansen

Considering the Train Station as your starting point, just 2 minutes walk from there you will find the Park Dworcowy, which will guide you till the Old Town.

But you can enjoy a lovely walk under the trees, because this park hosts “The Pszczyna Village Heritage Park” (Skansen - skansen.pszczyna.pl), an open air museum where you can see the most precious monuments of wooden rural architecture and historical and original instruments/materials.

Pszczyna is a town with a very good touristic signaling, just follow the signs to get to the next destination: Rynek. To get there you can follow Piastowska Street, with a multitude of historical houses dating back to 18th century.

Here for example you can find the Silesian Press Museum, the only press museum in Poland. At the end of the street, you will arrive to the Market Square.

Rynek

The Old Town has retained the traditional medieval layout. Nowadays there is a big contrast between the historical buildings (from the 18th and 19th century) and the modern coffee shops or restaurants, but probably it makes it so special.

Castle Park

Walking through the Castle courtyard, one enters to a 156 hectares historic area of Pszczyna´s Park. It was built in English style and it attracts locals and tourists because of his diversity and richness.

The Castle Museum

The Castle Museum (Muzeum Zamkowe - zamek-pszczyna.pl) is one of the most valuable resident-museums in Poland. A place where you can spend few hours without even realizing. definitely a must if you come to Pszczyna.

Our last stop in Pszczyna will be the Bison Centre (Pokazowa Zagroda Żubrów - zubry.pszczyna.pl), just 5 minutes from the Castle Museum. Here you can take a peek at the bisons and at other animals which are living in there like deers, squirrels, wild boars... And learn more about the flora and fauna of this region.
