Why rybnik

In the middle ages, Rybnik was developed as a fishing centre (which is the meaning of this word in some Slavic languages) and in the 19th century it grew as an important centre for coal mining. During communist times in Poland, this city was projected to be one of the most important coal mine cities for the southern part of Poland.

Nowadays, Rybnik has large coal mines and power plants which allows it to be an important economic region of Poland as well as an important music point, because its home of the Szafrankowie Brothers State School of Music and the Philharmonic Orchestra.

On your way to the basilica of St. Anthony, you will be in the main square, where you can see the town hall and have a coffee in one of the many coffee shops there.

Rybnik possess in the city the University of Economics and its surroundings deserves a visit, with a big park to have a walk with different themes along the year. In our visit, they had the Asian culture theme
